VPK/Pre-K Program

The Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program prepares eligible four-year-olds for kindergarten at no cost. In Broward County Public Schools, it is combined with Pre-K hours to offer a free full-day program at Title I schools.

Coral Park’s competitive Speech and Debate Club gives fourth and fifth graders a powerful platform to build confidence and public speaking skills by performing original or interpretive speeches at county-wide tournaments. Students choose a piece to memorize and present, learning how to captivate an audience through delivery, timing, and stage presence. Club meetings focus on speech preparation, memorization techniques, and peer collaboration, helping students grow as articulate, thoughtful communicators ready to shine on stage and beyond.

Discover the power of hands-on learning and environmental stewardship in our award-winning after-school Green Thumb Gardening and Environmental Club. Students dive into real-world projects that explore the impact we have on our planet and how we can shape a greener future. From cultivating a vibrant herb and vegetable garden to beautifying the campus and building wildlife habitats, members lead meaningful change—right here at Coral Park.

Coral Park’s before-school music programs for 3rd–5th graders offer students a vibrant start to their day through singing and playing instruments like the ukulele and Orff instruments. Our music club performs at seasonal concerts and local events, and even participates in an intergenerational music therapy program at assisted living centers—where students build social skills and share the joy of music with senior friends. It’s a heartwarming blend of creativity, community service, and personal growth.

Coral Park’s Robotics Team, powered by the VEX IQ program, offers students hands-on experience in programming, sensors, and automation while building essential 21st-century skills. Through engaging challenges, students strengthen their creativity, teamwork, and leadership as they explore the engineering design process—testing, refining, and discovering innovative solutions. It’s a dynamic opportunity for young minds to grow as problem-solvers and future tech leaders.

Coral Park’s Play Pal Program empowers 3rd–5th grade students to serve as peer mentors for classmates who are differently-abled, including those with autism and other special needs. Selected for their leadership, kindness, and responsibility, Play Pals receive training to support social interaction and inclusion during class, lunch, recess, and specials. The program boosts confidence and empathy in all participants, fostering friendships, reducing isolation, and promoting acceptance throughout the school community. It’s a win-win initiative that builds leaders and strengthens connections.

Each morning, Coral Park’s WCPE News Crew—led by our dedicated fifth-grade students—broadcasts a live campus-wide show featuring school events and announcements. Under the guidance of the Media Specialist, students take charge of scripting, operating A/V equipment, and ensuring a smooth, on-time production. This exciting opportunity builds responsibility, teamwork, and leadership while keeping our school community informed and connected.
